RESUMO

This study aimed to assess the clinical characteristics, treatment, and prognosis of osteoarticular brucellosis. We conducted a retrospective study enrolling brucellosis patients from the Sixth People's Hospital of Shenyang between September 2014 and June 2019. A total of 1917 participants were admitted during this period. After applying propensity score matching, we retrospectively analyzed 429 patients with osteoarthritis and 429 patients without osteoarthritis. The primary outcome was treatment completion. The secondary outcome was symptom disappearance and seroconversion. Brucellosis patients with osteoarthritis had longer treatment course (160 [134.3-185.7] vs. 120 [102.3-137.7] d, p = 0.008) than those without osteoarthritis. The most common involved site was lumbar vertebrae (290 [67.6%]) in brucellosis patients with osteoarthritis. Longer symptom duration (90 [83.0-97.0] vs. 42 [40.2-43.8], p < 0.001) along with no significant difference in seroconversion (180 [178.8-181.2] vs. 180 [135.1-224.9], p = 0.212) was observed in osteoarthritis patients with treatment course >90 d. Peripheral joint involvement (adjusted hazard ratio [95% confidence interval] 1.485 [1.103-1.999]; p = 0.009) had a shorter symptom duration compared with shaft joint involvement. No significant differences were observed in treatment therapy between doxycycline plus rifampin (DR) or plus cephalosporins (DRC) in treatment course (p = 0.190), symptom persistence (p = 0.294), and seroconversion (p = 0.086). Lumbar vertebra was the most commonly involved site. Even if all symptoms disappeared, Serum agglutination test potentially remained positive in some patients. Compared with peripheral arthritis, shaft arthritis was the high-risk factor for longer symptom duration. The therapeutic effects were similar between DR and DRC. In summary, our study provided important insights into the clinical characteristics, treatment, and outcomes of osteoarticular brucellosis. Clinical Trial Registration number: NCT04020536.

BACKGROUND: The understanding of dynamic plasma proteome features in hybrid immunity and breakthrough infection is limited. A deeper understanding of the immune differences between heterologous and homologous immunization could assist in the future establishment of vaccination strategies. METHODS: In this study, 40 participants who received a third dose of either a homologous BBIBP-CorV or a heterologous ZF2001 protein subunit vaccine following two doses of inactivated coronavirus disease 2019 vaccines and 12 patients with BA.2.2 breakthrough infections were enrolled. Serum samples were collected at Days 0, 28, and 180 following the boosting vaccination and breakthrough and then analyzed using neutralizing antibody tests and mass spectrometer-based proteomics. Mass cytometry of peripheral blood mononuclear cell samples was also performed in this cohort. RESULTS: The chemokine signaling pathway and humoral response markers (IgG2 and IgG3) associated with infection were found to be upregulated in breakthrough infections compared to vaccination-induced immunity. Elevated expression of IGKV, IGHV, IL-17 signaling, and the phagocytosis pathway, along with lower expression of FGL2, were correlated with higher antibody levels in the boosting vaccination groups. The MAPK signaling pathway and Fc gamma R-mediated phagocytosis were more enriched in the heterologous immunization groups than in the homologous immunization groups. CONCLUSION: Breakthrough infections can trigger more intensive inflammatory chemokine responses than vaccination. T-cell and innate immune activation have been shown to be closely related to enhanced antibody levels after vaccination and therefore might be potential targets for vaccine adjuvant design.

This study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of a novel droplet digital polymerase chain reaction (DDPCR) assay in sepsis patients. In this prospective cohort study, univariable and multivariable Cox regressions were used to assess risk factors for 28-day mortality. We also monitored pathogen load together with clinical indicators in a subgroup of the cohort. A total of 107 sepsis patients with positive baseline DDPCR results were included. Detection of poly-microorganisms [adjusted hazard ratio (HR) = 3.19; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.34-7.62; P = 0.009], high Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) score (adjusted HR = 1.14; 95% CI = 1.01-1.29; P = 0.041), and Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score (adjusted HR = 1.18; 95% CI = 1.05-1.32; P = 0.005) at baseline were independent risk factors for 28-day mortality while initial pathogen load was not associated (adjusted HR = 1.17; 95% CI = 0.82-1.66; P = 0.385). Among 63 patients with serial DDPCR results, an increase in pathogen load at days 6-8 compared to baseline was a risk factor for 28-day mortality (P = 0.008). Also, pathogen load kinetics were significantly different between day-28 survivors and nonsurvivors (P = 0.022), with a decline overtime only in survivors and an increase from days 3 and 4 to days 6-8 in nonsurvivors. Using DDPCR technique, we found that poly-microorganisms detected and increased pathogen load a week after sepsis diagnosis were associated with poor prognosis.IMPORTANCEThis prospective study was initiated to explore the prognostic implications of a novel multiplex PCR assay in sepsis. Notably, our study was the largest cohort of sepsis with droplet digital polymerase chain reaction pathogen monitoring to date, allowing for a comprehensive evaluation of the prognostic significance of both pathogen species and load. We found that detection of poly-microorganisms was an independent risk factors for 28-day mortality. Also, pathogen load increase 1 week after sepsis diagnosis was a risk factor for 28-day mortality, and differential pathogen load kinetics were identified between day-28 survivors and nonsurvivors. Overall, this study demonstrated that pathogen species and load were highly correlated with sepsis prognosis. Patients exhibiting conditions mentioned above face a more adverse prognosis, suggesting the potential need for an escalation of antimicrobial therapy.Registered at ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT05190861).

The contamination of creek sediments near industrially nuclear dominated site presents significant environmental challenges, particularly in identifying and quantifying potentially toxic metal (loid)s (PTMs). This study aims to measure the extent of contamination and apportion related sources for nine PTMs in alpine creek sediments near a typical uranium tailing dam from China, including strontium (Sr), rubidium (Rb), manganese (Mn), lithium (Li), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), vanadium (V), cadmium (Cd), zinc (Zn), using multivariate statistical approach and Sr isotopic compositions. The results show varying degrees of contamination in the sediments for some PTMs, i.e., Sr (16.1-39.6 mg/kg), Rb (171-675 mg/kg), Mn (224-2520 mg/kg), Li (11.6-78.8 mg/kg), Cd (0.31-1.38 mg/kg), and Zn (37.1-176 mg/kg). Multivariate statistical analyses indicate that Sr, Rb, Li, and Mn originated from the uranium tailing dam, while Cd and Zn were associated with abandoned agricultural activities, and Ni, Cu, and V were primarily linked to natural bedrock weathering. The Sr isotope fingerprint technique further suggests that 48.22-73.84% of Sr and associated PTMs in the sediments potentially derived from the uranium tailing dam. The combined use of multivariate statistical analysis and Sr isotopic fingerprint technique in alpine creek sediments enables more reliable insights into PTMs-induced pollution scenarios. The findings also offer unique perspectives for understanding and managing aqueous environments impacted by nuclear activities.

Background: This study evaluates the efficacy of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) response as a surrogate marker for determining recurrence-free survival (RFS) in patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (uHCC) who undergo salvage hepatectomy following conversion therapy with tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) and anti-PD-1 antibody-based regimen. Methods: This multicenter retrospective study included 74 patients with uHCC and positive AFP (>20 ng/mL) at diagnosis, who underwent salvage hepatectomy after treatment with TKIs and anti-PD-1 antibody-based regimens. The association between AFP response-defined as a ≥ 80% decrease in final AFP levels before salvage hepatectomy from diagnosis-and RFS post-hepatectomy was investigated. Results: AFP responders demonstrated significantly better postoperative RFS compared to non-responders (P<0.001). The median RFS was not reached for AFP responders, with 1-year and 2-year RFS rates of 81.3% and 70.8%, respectively. In contrast, AFP non-responders had a median RFS of 7.43 months, with 1-year and 2-year RFS rates at 37.1% and 37.1%, respectively. Multivariate Cox regression analysis identified AFP response as an independent predictor of RFS. Integrating AFP response with radiologic tumor response facilitated further stratification of patients into distinct risk categories: those with radiologic remission experienced the most favorable RFS, followed by patients with partial response/stable disease and AFP response, and the least favorable RFS among patients with partial response/stable disease but without AFP response. Sensitivity analyses further confirmed the association between AFP response and improved RFS across various cutoff values and in patients with AFP ≥ 200 ng/mL at diagnosis (all P<0.05). Conclusion: The "20-80" rule based on AFP response could be helpful for clinicians to preoperatively stratify the risk of patients undergoing salvage hepatectomy, enabling identification and management of those unlikely to benefit from this procedure.

AIMS: Development and evaluation of the effectiveness of a Nurse Navigation programme based on Noddings' Care theory on two dependent variables which were professional identity and career planning among first-year undergraduate nursing students. BACKGROUND: First-year undergraduate nursing students generally have a low sense of professional identity and career planning, resulting in a loss of nursing power after graduation. Implemention of a Nurse Navigation program based on Noddings' Care theory may be potentially useful in cultivating their professional identity and career planning. DESIGN: A quasi-experimental study. METHODS: A convenience sample of 122 first-year undergraduate nursing students from two medical universities was recruited between September 2021 and June 2022. Students in the experimental group (n = 63) participated in the Nurse Navigation programme based on Noddings' Care theory, which contained four core components, spreading over 50 lessons. Those in the control group (n = 59) underwent a traditional training programme with five components across 44 lessons. The two groups were compared in terms of their level of professional identity by Professional identity questionnaire for nurse students (PIQNS) and career planning by Career planning questionnaire (CPQ) after the training using the t-test. RESULTS: The mean score of professional identity in the experimental group increased significantly from 51.02 ± 8.46 at baseline to 58.02 ± 8.81 after the intervention (p < 0.001), with a large effect size (Cohen's d=0.810). Also, this post-intervention score was statistically significantly higher than that (52.86 ± 9.27) in the control group (p = 0.002), with a medium effect size (Cohen's d=0.571). The mean score of career planning in the experimental group increased significantly from 81.76 ± 9.86 at baseline to 94.52 ± 10.81 after the intervention (p < 0.001), with a large effect size (Cohen's d = 1.233). Also, this post-intervention score was statistically significantly higher than that (88.25 ± 9.30) in the control group (p < 0.001), with a medium effect size (Cohen's d=0.623). CONCLUSIONS: The Nurse Navigation programme based on Noddings' Care theory showed effectiveness in enhancing professional identity and career planning among first-year undergraduate nursing students in China. Further rigorous studies are needed to examine its effectiveness and long-term impacts on these students.

Data on reinfection in large Asian populations are limited. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the reinfection rate, disease severity, and time interval between the infections in the symptomatic and asymptomatic populations which are firstl infected with BA.2 Omicron Variant. We retrospectively included adult patients with COVID-19 discharged from four designated hospitals between 27 April 2021 and 30 November 2022, who were interviewed via telephone from 29 January to 1 March 2023. Univariable and multivariable analyses were used to explore risk factors associated with reinfection. A total of 16,558 patients were followed up, during the telephone survey of an average of 310.0 days, 1610 (9.72%) participants self-reported reinfection. The mean time range of reinfection was 257.9 days. The risks for reinfection were analysed using multivariable logistic regression. Patients with severe first infection were at higher risk for reinfection (aORs, 2.50; P < 0.001). The male (aORs,0.82; P < 0.001), the elderly (aORs, 0.44; P < 0.001), and patients with full vaccination (aORs, 0.67; P < 0.001) or booster (aORs, 0.63; P < 0.001) had the lower risk of reinfection. Patients over 60 years of age (aORs,9.02; P = 0.006) and those with ≥2 comorbidities (aORs,11.51; P = 0.016). were at higher risk for severe reinfection. The number of clinical manifestations of reinfection increases in people with severe first infection (aORs, 2.82; P = 0.023). The overall reinfection rate was 9.72%, and the reinfection rate of Omicron-to-Omicron subvariants was 9.50% at one year. The severity of Omicron-Omicron reinfection decreased. Data from our clinical study may provide clinical evidence and bolster response preparedness for future COVID-19 reinfection waves.

Thallium is a rare metal known for its highly toxic nature. Recent research has indicated that the precise determination of Tl isotopic compositions using Multi-Collector Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (MC-ICP MS) provides new opportunities for understanding Tl geochemical behavior. While isotopic fractionation of Tl derived from anthropogenic activities (e.g., mining, smelting) have been reported, there is limited information regarding Tl influenced by both natural weathering processes and anthropogenic origins. Herein, we investigated, for the first time, the Tl isotopic compositions in soils across a representative Tl-rich depth profile from the Lanmuchang (LMC) quicksilver mine (southwest China) in the low-temperature metallogenesis zone. The results showed significant variations in Tl isotope signatures (ε205Tl) among different soil layers, ranging from -0.23 to 3.79, with heavier isotope-205Tl enrichment observed in the bottom layers of the profile (ε205Tl = 2.18-3.79). This enrichment of 205Tl was not solely correlated with the degree of soil weathering but was also partially associated with oxidation of Tl(I) by Fe (hydr)oxide minerals. Quantitative calculation using ε205Tl vs. 1/Tl data further indicated that the Tl enrichment across the soil depth profile was predominantly derived from anthropogenic origins. All these findings highlight that the robustness and reliability of Tl isotopes as a proxy for identifying both anthropogenic and geogenic sources, as well as tracing chemical alterations and redox-controlled mineralogical processes of Tl in soils. The nascent application of Tl isotopes herein not only offers valuable insights into the behavior of Tl in surface environments, but also establishes a framework for source apportionment in soils under similar circumstances.

BACKGROUND: Routine clinical staging for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) incorporates liver function, general health, and tumor morphology. Further refinement of prognostic assessments and treatment decisions may benefit from the inclusion of tumor biological marker alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and systemic inflammation indicator C-reactive protein (CRP). METHODS: Data from a multicenter cohort of 2770 HCC patients undergoing hepatectomy were analyzed. We developed the PACE risk score (Prognostic implications of AFP and CRP Elevation) after initially assessing preoperative AFP and CRP's prognostic value. Subgroup analyzes were performed in BCLC cohorts A and B using multivariable Cox analysis to evaluate the prognostic stratification ability of the PACE risk score and its complementary utility for BCLC staging. RESULTS: Preoperative AFP ≥ 400ng/mL and CRP ≥ 10 mg/L emerged as independent predictors of poorer prognosis in HCC patients who underwent hepatectomy, leading to the creation of the PACE risk score. PACE risk score stratified patients into low, intermediate, and high-risk groups with cumulative 5-year overall (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) rates of 59.6%/44.9%, 43.9%/38.4%, and 20.6%/18.0% respectively (all P < 0.001). Increased PACE risk scores correlated significantly with early recurrence and extrahepatic metastases frequency (all P < 0.001). The multivariable analysis identified intermediate and high-risk PACE scores as independently correlating with poor postoperative OS and RFS. Furthermore, the PACE risk score proficiently stratified the prognosis of BCLC stages A and B patients, with multivariable analyses demonstrating it as an independent prognostic determinant for both stages. CONCLUSION: The PACE risk score serves as an effective tool for postoperative risk stratification, potentially supplementing the BCLC staging system.

BACKGROUND: The measurement of the health literacy level of patients undergoing outpatient surgery has become a major challenge in perioperative nursing of outpatient surgery. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the effect of health literacy on early postoperative recovery of patients undergoing outpatient surgery by developing a health literacy assessment tool for this population. METHODS: A scale for the assessment of health literacy was established based on Nutbeam's health literacy model. From April to September 2021, 264 patients were selected in the daytime operating rooms of six Class A tertiary hospitals in Kunming, Yunnan Province to investigate health literacy and early postoperative rehabilitation quality, and the influencing factors of the two variables were analyzed. RESULTS: An assessment scale of health literacy of patients undergoing outpatient surgery was developed, including 3 dimensions and 24 items. The Cronbach's α coefficient of the total scale was 0.944, the split-half reliability was 0.902, and the content validity was 0.920. Exploratory factor analysis showed that the cumulative variance contribution rate was 66.37%, and the scale had good structural validity. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that age, functional health literacy, interactive health literacy, and critical health literacy could explain 60.4% of the variation (adjusted R2= 0.583) of postoperative recovery quality of patients undergoing outpatient surgery. CONCLUSION: Health literacy of patients undergoing outpatient surgery is an important factor that affects the quality of early postoperative recovery. The health literacy assessment scale can assist medical staff in implementing personalized perioperative nursing and health education.

BACKGROUND: The efficacy and safety of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) combined with anti-PD-1 antibodies (α-PD-1) in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with high hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA levels (>500 IU/mL) remain unclear. METHODS: We retrospectively assessed patients from seven medical institutions diagnosed with HBV-related HCC, undergoing treatment with TKIs and α-PD-1 in conjunction with antiviral therapies. Based on HBV-DNA levels, patients were categorized into either high (HHBV-DNA, >500 IU/mL) or low HBV-DNA (LHBV-DNA, ≤500 IU/mL) cohorts Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to minimize baseline imbalance between groups. RESULTS: 149 patients were included, with 66 patients exhibiting HBV-DNA > 500 IU/mL and 83 patients presenting HBV-DNA ≤ 500 IU/mL. Compared with the LHBV-DNA cohort, the HHBV-DNA cohort had a greater incidence of serum HBeAg positivity, tumor diameter ≥ 10 cm, and vascular invasion. Following PSM, 57 individuals were enrolled in each group. Oncological outcomes were comparable between HHBV-DNA and LHBV-DNA cohorts before and after PSM. Before PSM, the median PFS and OS were 6.1 months and 17.5 months in the HHBV-DNA cohort and 6.7 months and 19.3 months in the LHBV-DNA cohort (all P > 0.05). After PSM, the median PFS and OS were 6.0 months and 19.5 months in the HHBV-DNA cohort and 6.0 months and 17.1 months in the LHBV-DNA cohort, respectively (all P > 0.05). Safety profiles were equivalent across cohorts with no fatal incidents reported. Seven patients (4.7 %) had HBV reactivation. 1 (0.7 %) from HHBV-DNA and 6 (4.0 %) from LHBV-DNA (P = 0.134). Only one patient developed HBV-related hepatitis. CONCLUSIONS: The effectiveness and safety of TKIs plus α-PD-1 in advanced HCC with HBV-DNA > 500 IU/mL were not compromised in the context of concomitant antiviral therapy.

IMPORTANCE: Metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) has been used broadly for pathogens detection of infectious diseases. However, there is a lack of method for the absolute quantitation of pathogens by mNGS. We compared the quantitative efficiency of three mNGS internal controls (ICs) Thermus thermophilus, T1 phages, and artificial DNA sequence and developed the most applicable strategies for pathogen quantitation via mNGS in central nervous system infection. The IC application strategy we developed will enable mNGS analysis to assess the pathogen load simultaneously with the detection of pathogens, which should provide critical information for quick decision-making of treatment as well as clinical prognosis.

Studies have shown that antidiabetic drugs can alter the gut microbiota. The hypoglycemic effects of the drugs can be attributed in part to certain species in the gut microbiome that help the drugs work more effectively. In addition, increasing energy expenditure via the induction of adipose tissue browning has become an appealing strategy to treat obesity and associated metabolic complications. Currently, glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) treatment for metabolic disorders such as obesity and type 2 diabetes has been widely studied. To determine the mechanism of a long-acting GLP-1 RA affects adipose tissue browning and the gut microbiome, we treated high-fat diet mice with GLP-1 RA and demonstrated that the drug can regulate adipose tissue browning. 16S rRNA and untargeted metabolomics assays suggested that it increased the abundance of bacterium Lactobacillus reuteri and decreased serum ceramide levels in mice. L. reuteri was negatively correlated with ceramide. We found that the mechanism of ceramide decline was alkaline ceramidase 2 (Acer2) overexpression. Moreover, L. reuteri can play a therapeutic synergistic role with GLP-1 RA, suggesting that gut microbiota can be used as a part of the treatment of diabetes.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the current surgery strategies for bilateral proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR), as well as the surgical outcomes of patients with bilateral PDR who underwent pars plana vitrectomy (PPV). MATERIALS: Patients undergoing bilateral vitrectomy for PDR from January 2019 to December 2020 at The Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University were enrolled. Clinical data were collected from the electronic medical records. Factors associated with the time interval between the surgeries on two eyes and postoperative visual outcomes were analyzed. RESULTS: In total, 152 patients with bilateral PDR who underwent bilateral PPV were included in this analysis. Mean age was 53.7 ± 11.4 years. Compared with second-surgery eyes, 60.5% of first-surgery eyes had worse preoperative best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA). The overall PPV time (median, quartile range) between first and second surgeries eye was 1.40 (0.70, 3.15) months. Multivariate analysis showed that the preoperative BCVA of the second-surgery eye had a significant effect on the inter-surgery time interval (P = 0.048). First-surgery eyes had greater vision improvement than second-surgery eyes (Difference of the logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution [LogMAR] BCVA: - 1.00 [- 1.48, - 0.12] versus 0.00 [- 1.30, 0.00], respectively, P < 0.001), especially when eyes with poorer BCVA underwent PPV first (- 1.15 [- 1.87, - 0.54] versus 0.00 [- 0.70, 0.00], respectively, P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Visual acuity is a significant factor that influences surgical strategies, including both surgery order and interval, for patients with bilateral PDR. The eyes operated upon first show more vision improvement due to prompt surgery.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second most common cause of cancer mortality, with mismatch repair proficient (pMMR) and/or microsatellite stable (MSS) CRC making up more than 80% of metastatic CRC. Programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) and programmed death 1 (PD-1) immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are approved as monotherapy in many cancers including a subset of advanced or metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) with deficiency in mismatch repair (dMMR) and/or high microsatellite instability (MSI-H). However, proficient mismatch repair and microsatellite stable (pMMR/MSS) cold CRCs have not shown clinical response to ICIs alone. To potentiate the anti-tumor response of PD-L1/PD-1 inhibitors in patients with MSS cold cancer, combination strategies currently being investigated include dual ICI, and PD-L1/PD-1 inhibitors in combination with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) /VEGF receptor (VEGFR) inhibitors, mitogen-activated protein kinase (MEK) inhibitors, and signal transducer and activation of transcription 3 (STAT3) inhibitors. This paper will review the mechanisms of PD-1/PD-L1 ICI resistance in pMMR/MSS CRC and potential combination strategies to overcome this resistance, summarize the published clinical experience with different combination therapies, and make recommendations for future avenues of research.

BACKGROUND: Hypoglycemia is one of the most common complications in patients with DN during hemodialysis. The purpose of the study is to construct a clinical automatic calculation to predict risk of hypoglycemia during hemodialysis for patients with diabetic nephropathy. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, patients provided information for the questionnaire and received blood glucose tests during hemodialysis. The data were analyzed with logistic regression and then an automated calculator for risk prediction was constructed based on the results. From May to November 2022, 207 hemodialysis patients with diabetes nephropathy were recruited. Patients were recruited at blood purifying facilities at two hospitals in Beijing and Inner Mongolia province, China. Hypoglycemia is defined according to the standards of medical care in diabetes issued by ADA (2021). The blood glucose meter was used uniformly for blood glucose tests 15 minutes before the end of hemodialysis or when the patient did not feel well during hemodialysis. RESULTS: The incidence of hypoglycemia during hemodialysis was 50.2% (104/207). The risk prediction model included 6 predictors, and was constructed as follows: Logit (P) = 1.505×hemodialysis duration 8~15 years (OR = 4.506, 3 points) + 1.616×hemodialysis duration 16~21 years (OR = 5.032, 3 points) + 1.504×having hypotension during last hemodialysis (OR = 4.501, 3 points) + 0.788×having hyperglycemia during the latest hemodialysis night (OR = 2.199, 2 points) + 0.91×disturbance of potassium metabolism (OR = 2.484, 2 points) + 2.636×serum albumin<35 g/L (OR = 13.963, 5 points)-4.314. The AUC of the prediction model was 0.866, with Matthews correlation coefficient (MCC) of 0.633, and Hosmer-Lemeshow χ2 of 4.447(P = 0.815). The automatic calculation has a total of 18 points and four risk levels. CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of hypoglycemia during hemodialysis is high in patients with DN. The risk prediction model in this study had a good prediction outcome. The hypoglycemia prediction automatic calculation that was developed using this model can be used to predict the risk of hypoglycemia in DN patients during hemodialysis and also help identify those with a high risk of hypoglycemia during hemodialysis.
